Ryan Marquez is a producer, songwriter, arranger, keyboardist and vocalist baptized in Blues, indoctrinated by Jazz and raised in Hip-Hop culture. His influences intersect at the crux of “feel good music" that he channels by infusing tasty jazz piano technique, a Pop sensibility as songwriter/arranger, with spoken and melodic vocal flavors from Progressive R&B. A conceptualist, Marquez's works often exemplify thematic imagery, socratic narrative and transcendental character as if musicians Chick Corea, Outkast, and Quincy Jones created a soundtrack to an Emmerson essay, Vonnegut novel or Alan Moore comic.
Born in Kansas City, he resides in St. Louis where he completed an Artist in Residency program with The Kranzberg Arts Foundation (‘20-’21). His work has been supported by The Regional Arts Commission of STL and MO Arts Council. Off stage he works in the community with accomplished art organizations including Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts and Jazz St. Louis. With an accomplished collaborative discography, this scene-pollinator sits squarely in the center of the uprising of talent ascending from the "The Confluence of Cool" that is Missouri.
